Let the evaluations commence!
I'm nearly done with my rubric...I believe another 30 minutes should wrap things up...maybe 45 with formatting. I've selected my courses to evaluate and hope to get 1-2 of those done tonight. That leaves one for tomorrow and my evaluation wrap up. I feel like I'm in a good place, and am hoping to be able to submit my final project tomorrow night (fingers crossed!).

I'm excited to get my rubric finished tonight so I can assess these courses!

Two Weeks Backward, One Week Forward
While I have admitted to a tendency towards procrastination, I would like to say that the last two weeks have included a strange variety of problems, both personal and professional, which have helped contribute to this long overdue post. So to make the most of this week, here is my first update.
So far I have been researching rubrics. My favorites are some from the University of Wisconsin Stout campus, which help assess Web 2.0 projects (including a wiki, which will be very helpful in my project). You can check them out here: http://www.uwstout.edu/soe/profdev/rubrics.cfm
I have also located some Visual Art rubrics for a variety of projects from the Alaska Department of Education (http://www.educ.state.ak.us/tls/frameworks/arts/6assess1.htm#sample), which have provided me with ideas of what areas I have reviewed for art content. I think the next step for me is to identify the courses I want to evaluate so I can determine the content I want to evaluate. I’d like to find similar courses, such as three art history units, or three basic design lessons. Once these have been located, I will have a better idea of the areas I want to assess in the rubric.
Another rubric I have found to be very helpful is an instructor evaluation for an online course from iRubric: http://www.rcampus.com/rubricshowc.cfm?code=J56XW2&sp=true& While this rubric is for evaluating an instructor, it uses descriptors for the online course content, which will be very helpful in my evaluations.

I also found this article very helpful in refreshing myself with rubrics and how they are developed. http://www.unk.edu/uploadedFiles/academicaffairs/Assessment/Training/Developing%20Rubrics.pdf
I’m off to determine my courses. More updates soon!

Final Project: Go!
I just submitted my proposal for my final project. I've decided to follow track 2, which is to develop a rubric to evaluate elearning courses. Unfortunately, I didn't type it in Word and save it, like I usually do, so I'm going to recount what I think I wrote...
I'm interested in evaluating similar coursework in a variety of settings. I'm hoping to find some art history courses, or possibly art/design courses. The websites I have been working with this semester have been Open Sources. Some of these sources are developed by major universities (MIT OpenCourseWare), others are developed by communities (Wikiversity). I'm curious to find out who provides better materials.
Since I have been going to school for 80% of my life at this point, I am fully willing to admit that I tend towards procrastination. It will be important for me to set a timeline for legs of this project. My other concern is finding sources for examples of elearning rubrics.
